So, 2020 Was A Thing…

What a year, am I right? A lot of things I wanted to do this year that… didn’t happen thanks to the situation that keeps on giving like an evil Santa Clause. I had a lot of goals and dreams for 2020. I was going to get my drivers license, for one thing, and here I am, still without one. That’s just the tip of the iceberg to boot. I was going through old conversations I had with my friends and saw what I was hoping for and striving for that never came to pass. And now, thankfully, we can celebrate that 2020 is officially over.

Good riddance and don’t come back.

And now, to focus on the wonder that is the future! Thankfully for us, humanity has always been amazing at looking to the things before us. I have all kinds of goals for 2021, ones I plan on accomplishing. There are books to read, adventures to have, stories to write, and skies to watch and fall in love with.

Read (at least) 50 books

I know it doesn’t seem like a very big number, and for that reason I hope to surpass it. I’m going to try and keep a reading log this year of what I read, not counting school textbooks, so I can look back over everything I read. I tend to have quite a memory, but I don’t want anything to slip through the cracks.

Try my hand at bullet journaling

I’ve always wanted to, and now I have one! I didn’t get the chance to ‘set it up’ so to speak, but I plan on looking into YouTube videos and Pinterest pictures, the works. I think it’ll be a blast! I’m looking forward to it and I already have plans on what I want to include, but I still have a few things I want to get my hands on first like a small set of watercolours and some new ink pens, because all mine are apparently dead.

Finish editing and get Letters to My Heart to beta readers

This is actually a goal I have for the beginning of the year! I hope to have it edited by the end of January and get it out to a team of beta readers for it’s two-year anniversary! I can’t believe it’s been almost that long. It’s gotten three more chapters added on and perhaps one more, likely one more, which I hope to write on Tuesday! I’ve rekindled my love and excitement for the story and perhaps may actually publish it someday. I have a lot of people who would like to see that, but I want to make sure it’s as good as possible before that happens. 🙂

Get. My. Stinking. Drivers. License.

Enough said.

Apply to colleges and transfer to one

Wow. That’s a lot in one sentence, but I’m really excited about that idea! It’ll be my first time living on my own for an extended period of time. It’s quite a bit away, but I’m still a bit nervous, but also excited over that prospect! Go me. XD

Apply to be a camp counselor this summer

And pray I’m accepted. It’s been a dream of mine since I started attending camp to be a counselor, and I finally have the chance!

Post more blog posts for you all (and redo bits of the site to match up with my current self)

I’d, ideally, like to have one up at least once a week! I’ll have to plan it into my very busy schedule, but I think it’s plausible. It would be spouts of poetry, book reviews, a blog tag or two, we’ll see what the new year brings us! :D<

And, most of all, embrace who I’m becoming even more than I have this year. I have a long road ahead, and after this year, there is officially no turning back. So let’s take next year like we have taken this one, one step in front of the other, and let us never cease to look at the wonders along the way, no matter how big or small.

And so I raise a glass (of hot chai tea) to 2020, for all the memories you have given and to 2021, for all the adventures you have yet in store.

Happy New Year, friends!

~ Allie

  1. Lol, my goal is to read 24 books this year, so you’re doing better than me as far as that goes. 😉
